CILIP Rewired is programmed in collaboration with CILIP’s UK e-information Group (UKeiG), a special interest group whose mission is to champion innovation and the effective exploitation of digital information resources, tools, techniques and technologies across all sectors of the library, information and knowledge profession.


Gary Horrocks, Rewired Programme Lead

Gary Horrocks is a writer, researcher, editor, librarian, information scientist and IT professional with over twenty-five years’ experience working in higher education to strategic director level.

Gary has considerable understanding of research, teaching and learning needs that affect provision of library and IT services in a complex and demanding multidisciplinary, multi-campus HE/FE environment.

He is a leader and champion of structural, organisational and cultural change in higher education, with a proven track record of delivering cost-effective and customer-focused quality services.

Gary has managed teams across IT, library and student services, leading on organisation-wide business planning, in support of corporate strategy and delivery of mission critical goals.

Gary is the business coordinator for UKeiG, the UK e-information Group, a special interest group of CILIP, the library and information association. He leads on developing and commissioning its prestigious professional development programme embracing artificial intelligence, natural language processing, search usability, research data management and data visualisation. I also lead on member engagement, publicity, marketing and social media.

Gary is also Editor of UKeiG’s open access journal eLucidate and executive support for CoLRiC, the Council for Learning Resources in Colleges which leads the way in supporting librarians and learning resources professionals in the further education/sixth form college sector. Gary is media watcher and regular contributor to its quarterly publication CoLRiC Impact and author of a Quality Assurance Framework that encourages self assessment and evidencing the value and impact of library services in colleges.
